This Wi-Fi / Access Point module is part of a broader range of Wi-Fi modules made by Duolabs.
Its uniqueness lies in the complexity of a module with Embedded Linux and low-level interfacing via UART and other peripherals. More affordable and compact modules are also available which, for brevity, are not shown on this page.
We showcase this device to highlight the complexity of its design compared to standard “off-the-shelf” Wi-Fi + BLE modules.
Main features
- Qualcomm Atheros chipset (AR9331 family)
- Embedded Linux
- 2× UART
- 1× USB-to-Serial port
- Wi-Fi 802.11b / 802.11g / 802.11n – 150 Mbit/s (≈130 Mbit/s real)
- RF output power: 20 dBm (~100 mW)
- Flash memory 4 MB (expandable to 16 MB)
- RAM 32 MB (expandable to 64 MB)
- USB 2.0 port (High-Speed; for Full/Low-Speed devices use a suitable external USB hub)
- Power via Micro-USB connector

BLE 5.0 Module
Description
This Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module with Bluetooth 5.0 is designed to minimize cost and footprint while maintaining compatibility and ultra-low power, making it ideal for battery-powered devices. It operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and provides a solid foundation for IoT products requiring long battery life.
We present this device to highlight the greater design complexity and low-level control compared to typical “off-the-shelf” Wi-Fi + BLE modules. Our solution enables fine-tuned integration of GAP and GATT, with customizable stack and firmware.
Hardware integration is simplified thanks to standard interfaces for sensors and actuators: UART, SPI and I²C. Firmware Over-the-Air (OTA) updates are supported for fast, scalable maintenance.
Main features
- Compliant with BLE and Bluetooth 5.0 (improved speed, range, advertising).
- Ultra-low consumption for battery applications (deep sleep, optimized advertising).
- Supports GAP / GATT and, where required, Bluetooth Mesh.
- Integration interfaces: UART, SPI, I²C.
- Security based on AES-128 / CCM (pairing/bonding via BLE stack).
- OTA updates for field deployment and maintenance.
- Compact BLE SoC architecture to reduce BOM and design complexity.
Design advantages
- Optimized size and BOM for wearables, sensors, actuators, and remote controls.
- Customizable firmware for low-latency scenarios, advanced power management, and application protocols over GATT.
- Certification options for markets requiring CE and FCC Part 15 (upon project request).

Portable LoRa Device
Description
“A technology assembly for tracking movements”: this definition sums up a device capable of geolocating and communicating over distances of several kilometers. Based on LoRa, it sends and receives messages via the LoRaWAN protocol, optimized by Duolabs to maximize tower–device coverage.
The device is portable, battery-powered, and features a TFT display 2.4″ with three capacitive touch keys (capacitive sensing). It connects to a LoRa Gateway and, thanks to precise antenna calibration, can reach distances beyond 10 km even in urban contexts.
Designed for IP67 rating, it integrates short-range communication via RFID in tag mode (standard ISO/IEC 15693) and BLE. Charging is via the Qi standard.
System architecture
The solution includes:
